How the stock estimate works
You choose how many alcoholic servings to make available per adult who may drink, from zero to six. Event length does not increase that number. The starting category mix is 40% still wine, 40% beer or cider, 10% sparkling and 10% spirits; every share is editable and totals other than 100% are normalised transparently.
Separately, the model allows 500 ml of soft drink per guest and 250 ml of water per guest per hour. Spirit mixers use 125 ml per planned spirit serving. These are shopping assumptions, not health rules.
Make the alcohol-free table equally good
Do more than remove alcohol. Offer chilled adult-tasting options, garnishes, suitable glassware and clear labels. Keep tap or bottled water visible throughout the event and make transport-home information easy to find.
Use the party drinks quantity and bottle plan to turn the result into exact labelled products, container surplus and controlled reserve. Then use the Christmas drinks-station plan to assign public stock, reserve locations, refill triggers and one complete helper handover.
Version and test status
Version 0.2, 19 August 2026. Whole-serving allocation, bottle rounding, zero-alcohol input, share normalisation and UK unit arithmetic are covered by automated checks. Default strengths are illustrative; product labels remain authoritative.
Questions people ask
Does the result show how much guests should drink?
No. You set a stock limit to make available; the result is not a recommended consumption level. Individual choices vary, unopened drinks can be retained, and nobody should be encouraged to consume the calculated quantity.
How many glasses are in a bottle of wine?
The calculator uses six 125 ml servings from a standard 750 ml bottle for stock arithmetic. Actual pours and glass sizes differ. UK alcohol units depend on both volume and strength.
